Telegraph Improved Safety Project
Project Overview
Washington City is designing safety improvements along Telegraph Street, Red Cliffs Drive and Green Spring Drive.
The proposed improvements include a new traffic signal and raised medians that will help improve traffic flow and safety, and support to the city's continued growth.
Schedule
This project is currently in the design phase.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
During the design phase, there will be targeted outreach with key stakeholder groups to introduce the project and understand their operational needs.
Planned Improvements
A new traffic signal will be installed on Red Cliffs Drive between AutoZone and Costa Vida on the north side of the intersection and the Albertsons shopping center on the south.
Raised medians are planned to be installed between intersections on Red Cliffs Drive, Telegraph Street, and Green Spring Drive:

On Red Cliffs Drive between intersections from Albertson Drive to Green Spring Drive.

On Telegraph Street between intersections from Green Spring Drive to 500 West.

On Green Spring Drive from the Telegraph intersection to the Home Depot driveway.
New Traffic Signal
A new traffic signal is planned on Red Cliffs Drive between AutoZone and Costa Vida on the north side of the intersection and the Albertsons shopping center on the south.
The new signal will coordinate with the existing traffic signals along Green Spring Drive and provide dedicated time for drivers to safely turn into nearby businesses.
New Raised Medians
Median Barriers help reduce conflict points for potential crashes by directing left turns to signalized intersections. These improvements create more predictable traffic patterns, reduce the potential for crashes, and help traffic move more efficiently. Right-in and right-out movements will still be allowed at existing accesses.
